N Ramachandran National Award presented to Shashi Tharoor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar presented Dr Shashi Tharoor MP with the National Award for Outstanding Public Service instituted by N. Ramachandran Foundation in memory of N. Ramachandran, who was a prominent journalist and former editorial advisor of Kerala Kaumudi. The award consists of one lakh rupees, a citation and a plaque. Sarod Musician Ustad Amjad Ali Khan who delivered the keynote address on the occasion handed over the certificate.

Foundation President Prabhavarma presided over the function held at Symphony Hall of Mascot Hotel on Monday evening. Former Union Minister O Rajagopal also delivered a speech at the function. Foundation Vice President and Kerala Kaumudi Chief Editor Deepu Ravi presented the gift to the special guests. Shashi Tharoor gave a memorial lecture. Foundation Secretary PP James gave the welcome speech while Vice President Babu Divakaran gave the vote of thanks.
