CHENNAI: Police registered a case against Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai for allegedly promoting religious enmity between two groups. The action was taken on the complaint filed by a resident of Pallipetty named Karthik.
The case is related to Annamala's altercation with Christian youths in Dharmapuri during his En Mann En Makkal rally near St. Lourdes Church in Bommidi near Pappiredipetti. When he tried to enter the church during the rally, the youth resisted citing the Manipur riots.
"What rights do you have to stop me? What would you do if I rallied 10,000 people and staged a dharna?," Annamalai can be heard saying in a video that went viral. Then the police intervened and removed the youths. After that, Annamalai went inside the church and prayed. Annamalai was booked under sections 153(a), 504 and 505(2).
