Marriages scheduled on Jan 17th won't be postponed; Guruvayur Devaswom clears the air

THRISSUR: Guruvayur Devaswom Administrator assured about not postponing marriages scheduled on January 17th and said the rituals won’t be affected by the arrival of PM Modi, who will attend actor Suresh Gopi’s daughter’s marriage scheduled on this same date.

Devaswom Administrator KP Vinayan meanwhile informed bringing some changes in the timing of the marriages as part of security. The Devaswom administrator had to clear the air since rumours were rife about marriages getting postponed due to the arrival of PM Modi at the temple on the same date.

The Devaswom Board is working on ways to change the timings of marriages scheduled between morning 7 am and 9 am on 17th January. As per the details, those marriages will be conducted earlier in the day. The opinion of relatives of people getting married will be sought before arriving at a decision. There are 64 marriages scheduled to take place in Guruvayur on the 17th. Out of this, 11 marriages are between seven and nine in the morning. These marriages will be made to take place between 5 am and 6 am or maybe after 9 am.

Actor Suresh Gopi’s daughter’s marriage is scheduled at 8;45 am on January 17th. At 8 am on the same day, PM Modi is expected to take darshan at the temple. There was also news about Union Home Minister Amit Shah attending the wedding, but the police have not received any notification.
