'Never did drugs but alcohol...'; Shruthi Haasan sheds light on old partying days

Once, actress and singer Shruti Haasan was in awe of the dripping effect induced by alcohol. Rave parties and night soirees were part of the movie culture which made the actress easily acclimatize to heavy drinking habits. And now, the actress has opened up about the determined effort she put in to come out from the quagmire of addiction.

"There is no opposition to parties but for non-drinkers, it will always be a difficult place to be,” Shruthi says.

“I have been abstinent from alcohol for eight years. Alcohol was a big part of life. The constant partying made the drinking habit worse. But at some point, I started distancing away from parties and it was then I recognised that alcohol was not doing me no good. I was a heavy drinker and coming out from the mesh was no menial task. I was never into drugs and have not used cigarettes. I am also following a method to distance away from friends who cajole me to attend parties. Not anymore” Shruthi said.
