KOZHIKODE: T Siddique MLA on Friday said that the financial fraud case against his wife was politically motivated. Speaking at a press conference, Siddique said that his wife Sharafunnisa was not working in that institution at the time mentioned in the complaint.
"I am challenging the complainant and the police to prove that Sharafunnisa had worked in that institution during the period mentioned in the complaint. My wife received an offer letter from the institution for the post of Branch Manager in 2021. She handed over her resignation to the institution on December 8, 2022. She resigned from the post of Branch Manager after finding that the institution was not functioning properly. After that, she had never gone to the institution. Sharafunnisa has no connection whatsoever with the complainant," Siddique said.
"The police have become an instrument of the state for politically tormenting the opponents by registering false cases against them. My wife also does not own the firm. Then how will she become a member of the Director Board? I don't have any hesitation in confronting the accusations. That is because I haven't done anything wrong. The complainant is the daughter of former CPM councillor Savitri Sreedharan. I will not bow down to a move that tries to insult me and my family. I'm always with the poor depositors. I am also working to help them get their money back. I will also take legal action," Siddique said.
