NEW DELHI: The central government has issued a notice to Amazon after the e-commerce site was found indulging in deceptive trade by selling sweets in the name of ‘Ram Mandir’ Prasad. The action was based on a complaint by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has stated that such activities are misleading to consumers.
Ram Temple Ayodhya Prasad, Raghupati Ghee Laddu, Khoya Khobi Ladoo, and Ram Mandir Desi Milk Peda are available on Amazon as Sri Ram Temple Ayodhya Prasad. Amazon has seven days to respond to the notice. CCPA stated that if this is not followed, necessary action will be taken.
CCPA said such practices influence customers to purchase the sweets and will later be bemused to learn about the fraud they jumped into. The central government intrusion has now made more customers alert about the fraud running behind the guise of Ram Mandir's inauguration. Ram Mandir is yet to be consecrated on January 22 and the temple hasn't started distributing Prasad to the public.
