Suspense in Christmas-New Year bumper; 20 crores in Thiruvananthapuram, agent shares happiness

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is hinted that the ticket XC 224091 which got the first prize for State Lottery’s Christmas-New Year Bumper was sold in Thiruvananthapuram. It is reported that the ticket sold to Winstar Golden Agencies in Palakkad, was taken to another agency.


Durairaj, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, bought the ticket from Palakkad agency. Tickets were sold from Lakshmi Lucky Center in East Fort. Durairaj responded to the media that he is happy as the ticket he sold got first prize.

‘I cannot say who bought the ticket. I have been doing lottery business for the past 35 years. The highest hit was Rs 10 lakhs. This is for the first time hitting a bumper. 20 crores came for the first time,' Durairaj said.

The draw was held in the presence of Finance Minister K N Balagopal at Gorkhi Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram. Over 40 lakh Christmas New Year bumper lottery tickets were sold. 50 lakh tickets came for sale.

30 people will get 10 lakh each as third prize, 20 people will get 3 lakh each as fourth prize and 20 people will get 2 lakh each as fifth prize. The same numbers in the other nine series of the first prize winning ticket will receive a consolation prize of Rs 1 lakh each. The minimum prize is Rs 400. Last year the first prize was Rs 16 crore.
