NEW DELHI: Central Election Commission informed that elections to 56 Rajya Sabha seats that have fallen vacant in 15 states will be held on the 27th of next month. Voting is scheduled to be held from nine in the morning to four in the evening on that day. The last date for submission of nomination papers is February 15.
The election is announced because the term of 50 Rajya Sabha members from 13 states will end on April 2 and two members from two states will retire on April 3.
Elections will be held for the vacant seats of Odisha, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh.
