KANNUR: While the opposition is raising criticism against the delay that occurred in voting on the polling day in the state, KK Shailaja, the LDF candidate in Vadakara, has dismissed the allegations of the UDF. She said that the Congress is afraid of defeat.

Shailaja, who dismissed the allegations that voting was delayed in the strongholds of the UDF, said that the opposition was raising such allegations out of fear of defeat. She pointed out that voting was delayed in all places. She added that she does not think that the officials purposefully delayed the polling.

Shailaja said that she believes that it was the UDF workers who were behind the post with the 'kafir' remark against her.

"If it is fake, the UDF should prove it. The UDF is carrying out such campaigns as they foresee defeat. The investigation into the cyber cases should continue. UDF had resorted to a low-level campaign against me in Vadakara," she said.

She also expressed hope that she would win by a huge margin in Vadakara.

Meanwhile, Vadakara UDF candidate Shafi Parambil alleged that the CPM workers blocked him from entering the booth while polling was going on on Friday. Shafi alleged abuse and violence from CPM cadres against Congress leaders and termed this as a vain attempt to disrupt the harmony after learning about the defeat on cards.
