KOLKATA: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who reached Bengal for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was denied lunch from Malda guest house. Congress submitted an application seeking permission, but the state government rejected it.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Nyay Yatra’ passed through Bengal in haste while moving towards neighbouring Bihar. And now, the yatra is detouring back to Bengal and will cover the Malda district by January 31.
According to local administration, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be visiting the district on the same day, which makes it impossible for anyone to enter or have lunch from the Malda guest house.
Mamata Banerjee had earlier voiced her disdain about working with Congress in the state and ruled out the possibility of an alliance in the coming elections. On the other hand, TMC collaborating with the INDIA alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections still hangs in balance, minding the recent exit of Nitish Kumar.
Mamata had made it clear that Trinamool would contest every seat in the state during the Lok Sabha elections and reminded that the door would be shut for Congress when it comes to state matters. The Congress have not responded to the guest house debacle.
This drama surrounding the guest house comes just days after Rahul Gandhi in Assam told people about his closeness with TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.
