KOCHI: The survivor in the actress assault case has approached the High Court seeking a copy of the investigation report on the complaint that the memory card in custody was illegally checked. In her petition, the survivor stated that despite the completion of the investigation by the trial court, she was not informed about the findings of the report. The investigation into this matter was completed in early January.
The survivor had approached the court after the forensic discovery that the hash value of the memory card with defamatory images had changed while in the custody of the trial court. Following this, the High Court appointed the District Sessions Judge to investigate the matter. She had earlier sent a letter to the trial court seeking an investigation to find those who illegally checked the memory card. In her letter, the survivor demanded that the case should be thoroughly investigated and the owner of the phone should be found.
The hash value in the memory card was found to have changed during the examination conducted at the Thiruvananthapuram forensic lab. Subsequently, the District Sessions Judge conducted an inquiry into the incident and submitted a report to the High Court. Although the survivor approached the Sessions Court requesting a copy of this, she was informed that the report was confidential and therefore could not be provided. Following this, she filed a petition in the High Court seeking a copy of the report.
