Another player injured; may not play in final three Tests against England; setback for India

RAJKOT: Injuries are becoming the villain for India in the Test series against England. There is no clarity on the return of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja who are injured, to the series where Virat Kohli is absent citing personal reasons. The remaining matches in the series, which are tied at 1-1, are crucial for India.

For India, who are aiming for the final of the World Test Championship, the news is not so good. Middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer is also included in the injured list. Reports suggest that the star will not play in the final three Tests.

The back pain that has plagued the star for a long time is the villain again. It is reported that while the kit bags of other players of the team were sent from Visakhapatnam to Rajkot, Iyer's kit was sent to his home in Mumbai. It is hinted that the player will soon go to the National Cricket Academy to recover from the injury. Shreyas Iyer underwent surgery in 2023 due to back pain. The Kolkata skipper missed the entire IPL season last year due to injury. It was Nitish Rana who led KKR in Iyer's absence.
