ABU DHABI: Recently, there was news about a Malayali winning 15 million dirhams (about Rs. 33 crores) in the Abu Dhabi Big Ticket draw. Rajeev Arikkatt, a Malayali living in Al Ain, was the lucky one who saw his dream turning true as he won the first prize in the 260th series draw of Big Ticket.
Rajeev’s lucky number was 037130, which was not a random pick, but had more to do with his daughter. Rajeev carefully picked the ticket number that had the same number as his daughter's date of birth. Rajeev, an architectural draftsman lives with his wife and children aged eight and five. Rajeev held no hope with the ticket initially and was very shocked when the winners' list came out.
'Lived in Al Ain for over 10 years. I have been taking tickets for three years. This time my wife and I decided to choose tickets with numbers 7 and 13 as it included the date of birth of our children” Rajeev said.
He bought the ticket online along with 20 other friends and family members. Rajeev now 40, purchased a total of six tickets in this year’s lucky draw.
