Silver Line: Cabinet grants permission to extend 205 posts for one year

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 205 posts which were created for land acquisition for the Silver Line project and are currently redeployed for other important land acquisition activities have been extended for one year from 18.08.2023. The decision in this regard was taken in the today's cabinet meeting. The cabinet meeting also gave permission to Supplyco to revise the prices of thirteen items of subsidized goods distributed through Supplyco.

The prices were revised to provide a subsidy of 35 percent to the items when compared to the prices in the public market. As there is a 35% subsidy, goods worth Rs 1446 will be available to people at Rs 940. This means that a beneficiary will have a profit of Rs 506. The decision was taken based on the conviction that it is necessary to revise the subsidy prices scientifically and rationally to keep this system stable and permanent.

The price of subsidized goods was last revised in 2014. Before that, the prices were revised in August 2013, August 2014, November 2014 and December 2014. As a result of price differentials in the public market over the last 10 years, there has been a huge difference between the prevailing price in the public market and the subsidized price. Due to this, Supplyco has a huge liability. An average of 35-40 lakh families buy items from Supplyco. Through market intervention activities, Supplyco incurs an average subsidy liability of Rs 35 crore per month and Rs 425 crore per year.

Salary revision
Salary revision of employees working in recognized posts in Primary Fisheries Co-operative Societies will be implemented with effect from 01.04.2019.
