The social media has now turned into a laugh factory with trolls coming in replete about the strange petition that reached the Calcutta High Court regarding the Muslim-Hindu names given to lions brought to Bengal. The petition was filed by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, stating that lions named Akbar and Sita should not be caged together and demanded the rechristening of their names.
With the issue earning headlines across national media, the troll/meme page also entered the fray with works ridiculing the petition. Many among these trolls are sure to leave netizens in splits.
Akbar is the name of one of the most revered Mughal emperors. Sita comes from the epic Ramayana. The petition voiced concern about the odd naming given to the lions and deemed it an insult to Hinduism.
The lions were brought to Bengal Safari Park in Siliguri on the 12th of this month from Sepahijala Zoological Park in Tripura. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad filed the petition with the Forest Department and the Director of Bengal Safari Park as parties. The petition will be considered on the 20th of this month.
