KOCHI: PDP chairman Abdul Nazar Madhani has been admitted at a private hospital in Kochi. He is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). There are no reports about his illness. Madhani, who was on conditional bail in the Bengaluru blast case, reached Kerala in last July.
Initially there was a bail condition not to leave Bengaluru. The Supreme Court had in last April allowed Madhani to come to Kerala to see his ailing father. However, his visit got delayed due to police procedures. He had reached Kochi on June 26 but was admitted in the hospital after developing health problems. After the time allowed by the Supreme Court ended, he had to return without seeing his father. When he approached the apex court seeking bail for treatment, the court granted him permission to stay in his hometown permanently.
The Karnataka Police arrested Madhani after there was an explosion in Bengaluru in 2008. He had visited his native place many times with the special permission of the Supreme Court while serving as a trial prisoner. The special guard of the Karnataka Police had accompanied him then.
