THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Governor has approved the recommendation to appoint former Law Secretary V Hari Nair as the Chief Information Commissioner. The Governor signed the related file and sent it to the Public Administration Department yesterday morning. Now, the notification should be issued.
When Vishwas Mehta retires on the 24th, the charge will be given to one of the Information Commissioners. Hari Nair will be sworn in at Raj Bhavan on March 1. The Governor is to administer the oath.
Meanwhile, the Governor, who did not approve the appointment of the three persons recommended by the government as Information Commissioners, directed the recommendation file to be sent back to the government. Dr. Sonnichan P. Joseph, M. Sreekumar and TK Ramakrishnan are on the list to be the Information Commissioners. The Governor is seeking an explanation from the government and clearance from the Vigilance for them in the context of receiving many complaints, including financial irregularities.
