Special connection for charging electric vehicles, Centre gives nod

NEW DELHI: The central government has approved the Electricity Right Amendment Rules, which allow special connections for charging electric vehicles. The time limit to get new connection has been reduced. Steps to install rooftop solar panels has been simplified. The time limit for getting new connection in metropolitan areas has been reduced from seven days to three. It was reduced from fifteen to seven in municipal areas and from 30 to 15 in villages. In hilly areas the time limit will remain 30 days.

Another additional meter will be installed within five days if a complaint is raised about the meter reading. Accuracy in billing will be ensured by taking readings every three months .
