Passenger trains back on UTS app, ticket prices may halve

g

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Passenger trains have been reintroduced in the unreserved ticket sales app of the Railways. There's an information that the Railways might revert the name change to Express trains made during the Covid period. However, no official order has been issued yet. If implemented, all passenger trains currently labeled as Express will return to being Passenger trains, resulting in a halving of ticket prices. Presently, the minimum fare for Passenger Express is 30 rupees.

During the Covid period, Passenger trains were renamed Express trains without any increase in facilities or stops, only resulting in a sharp rise in ticket prices. UTS Ordinary, indicating Passenger trains, is now included in the ticket app. However, passengers must note that they cannot board Passenger Express trains with an Ordinary ticket, as the names of the trains in Kerala remain unchanged.
