KOCHI: A joint meeting of producers and distributors has decided not to negotiate with the theaters that have stopped the release of films due to digital screening. It has also been decided that such theaters will not pay films and projection rates in the future.

Secretary of Kerala Film Producers Association B. Rakesh, Film Distributors Association Kerala Secretary SST Subramaniam, and President Siyad Koker said in a press conference.

Producers will not pay theaters the same amount of theatrical projection that they used to pay for regular films. They said they would consider participating if the Film Chamber mediated the discussion.

Actor Dileep, chairman of FEUOK, said they are not going to strike by closing the theatres. The show is continuing in theaters. Upcoming movies will be screened, whether in Malayalam or other languages. FEUOK's protest continues.

They protested when the demands raised were not resolved. They talked directly to manufacturers and suppliers, desiring to resolve issues through discussion. There are issues to be discussed, including OTT release. He also said that the release dates of some films were changed not because of theater protests.

A meeting of the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce will be held in Kochi today at 3 pm while FEUOK and the producers are locking horns. The office-bearers said that the meeting will discuss the OTT issue as well.
