15 BJP MLAs suspended in Himachal Pradesh for misconduct

politics

SHIMLA: The Speaker suspended 15 BJP MLAs, including Jairam Thakur, in Himachal Pradesh after the opposition created a ruckus in the Legislative Assembly during the voting yesterday. The opposition BJP has a total of 25 MLAs in Himachal Pradesh. With the suspension of 15 people, the number of members of the party has gone down to 10.

After the Rajya Sabha elections, the political crisis in Himachal Pradesh has hit Congress again. Vikramaditya Singh resigned in a blow to the Congress after the BJP started making moves to form the government. It is believed that this resignation is part of the BJP's move for the post of Chief Minister.

The ruling Congress in Himachal Pradesh faced a huge setback yesterday when the Rajya Sabha elections were held. Manu Abhishek Singhvi, who was sure of his victory, suffered a setback when six of the 40 Congress MLAs and three independents who supported the government cross-voted for BJP's Harsh Mahajan. Singhvi managed to get 34 votes, level with Harsh who got 34 votes with 25 BJP votes and nine cross votes. Harsh was then declared the winner through a draw. Nine people who cross-voted were shifted to Haryana by the BJP under the security of CRPF jawans.
