NEW DELHI: The challenges faced by the youth are the main problem that any government in power has to face. Considering the population of a country like India, it is a big challenge. Among the major problems of the youth is unemployment.

It is natural to discuss our country's progress and compare it with neighboring countries. Pakistan usually come up in such discussions. Now, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made allegation about the unemployment figures in the country, while comparing it with our not-so-friendly neighbours.

Rahul Gandhi alleges that India's unemployment rate is double that of Pakistan. He said this while addressing a public gathering during Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

“The country is facing injustice on many fronts. There is economic and social injustice. Farmers are facing injustice. Our country is facing the worst unemployment rate in the last 40 years. India’s unemployment rate is double that of Pakistan. 23 per cent of youth were unemployed in India and 12 per cent in Pakistan,” he said.

“We have more unemployed youth than Bangladesh and Bhutan because Narendra Modi has finished small businesses by demonetisation and implementing GST,” he added.

According to the World Bank report released in 2022, the youth unemployment rate in India was at 23.22 per cent, which was higher than its neighbours Pakistan (11.3 per cent) and Bangladesh (12.9 per cent).
