February 2024 worked smart for the Malayalam film industry, with people all over the country watching in awe of the creative finesse. Three films in February have already surpassed the gargantuan RS 50 crore threshold level and are running with more houseful shows. The latest on the list was ‘Manjummel Boys’ directed by Chidambaram. The movie that came to theatres with a subtle promotion work is now turning into a rave even in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

As per reports, the movie has collected Rs 15 crore from Tamil Nadu, the first by any Malayalam movie in history. Ever since its release, the movie has amassed Rs 57 crore as total collection. Manjummel has now got Tamil Nadu talking about the prowess of the Malayalam industry, while some sections have already demanded the re-release of the erstwhile Tamil classic ‘Guna’ starring Kamal Haasan. The movie is considered to be the catalyst for the creation of Manjummel Boys.

On another note, the hill town of Kodaikanal is also swelling with tourists, mostly to visit the enigmatic ‘Guna cave’ which is the main protagonist in ‘Manjummel Boys’. Recently, actor Kamal Haasan visited the crew and adulated the efforts made to bring out a cinema that is engaging through and through. Even prominent directors such as Karthik Subburaj have shared their ‘awe’ for the film.

‘Manjummel Boys’ will thus join ‘Premam’ to be among one of the few Malayalam movies to have created such a terrific impact in Tamil Nadu.
