Audio and video calls without phone number; Is calling feature on Musk's X safe?

x

It has been more than a year since Elon Musk acquired the social media platform Twitter. Musk has also made several notable changes, including renaming the platform X. One such recent change was the introduction of audio and video calling.

Everyone who has an X account will have the calling feature enabled. However, there are some problems with this. The person on the call can clearly know the IP address of the other party. X also has the facility to hide the IP address but has not clarified whether the end-to-end call is encrypted or not. This will invade privacy and help X to know the information.

How to turn off audio-video calls?

Although the calling option is enabled by default, it can also be turned off. Let's see how.
First, open the X app and tap on the message icon. Now tap on the Settings icon on the right side. Here you can enable or disable audio and video calling. Turn it off. This turns off the feature of making calls from your account.

If end-to-end encryption is not an issue and you want to hide your IP address, turn on Enhance Call Privacy. In addition, customers can now decide which strangers, followers, and verified users can call them. Many X-users are worried that their valuable information will be available to people as end-to-end encryption is not guaranteed. The problem they raise is that by understanding the IP address, others can easily understand their location.
