CHANDIGARH: The BJP-JJP alliance cabinet led by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has resigned. Khattar submitted his resignation after meeting Governor Bandaru Dattatreya in person. The sudden resignation of the cabinet comes in the backdrop of sharp differences of opinion between the BJP and the JJP. It is reported that the rift between both parties intensified over seat sharing in the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP had won all ten seats in the previous Lok Sabha elections. The party's state leadership informed that it won't give even one seat to JJP this time. However, JJP is demanding that it wants two seats.

Meanwhile, BJP had called a meeting of party MLAs and independent MLAs supporting the government ahead of the resignation. There is a move to form a new government with the support of independents. However, JJP's Dushyant Chautala has also called a meeting of MLAs.

In the assembly elections held in October 2019, the BJP had won 40 of the 90 seats. The government led by Manohar Lal Khattar came to power with the support of ten JJP MLAs. Dushyant Chautala was made the Deputy Chief Minister.
