IDUKKI: Chinnakanal on Thursday witnessed yet another wild elephant attack after a house owned by a man named Naganna was destroyed completely by one pachyderm. The locals blamed Chakkakomban, the infamous single tusker for the ruckus.

Meanwhile, one ration shop in Panniyar was vandalized by Chakkakomban last day. The ration shop which was functioning in the Panniyar estate building was owned by Chundal native Antony. The infamous Arikomban used to regularly ransack this ration shop for rice and sugar.

After Arikomban was caught and deported, this building was rebuilt and fencing was installed for safety. But at around three in the morning, Chakkakomban attacked the renovated ration shop by uprooting the nearby flagpole and breaking the fencing. After demolishing the wall of the building, the sieves were taken out and the elephant devoured some of the rice stored inside the shop.

Fear has gripped in regions of Panniyar, Chinnakanal 301 colony, Anaerangal and Sinkukandam after the elephant started roaming free in human habitat and destroying houses. If not for any proper action, the people in this region fear a far worse calamity.
