IDUKKI: A policeman has been suspended for taking a loan of Rs 20 lakhs by producing a fake salary certificate. The suspended police officer has been identified as Senuior Civil Police Officer Ajeesh of the Kulamavu Police Station. He had taken a loan from the Idukki Police Cooperative Society. Earlier, a case was registered against six persons, including the office bearers of the cooperative society, on the complaint of Padamukham native KK Siju. Ajeesh is the first accused in the case.

Ajeesh took the loan from the cooperative society in 2017. He had taken the loan by submitting the names of 4 persons as guarantors. However, Siju later filed a complaint alleging that Ajeesh added his name as a guarantor by forging his signature.
Ajeesh had submitted a salary certificate issued by the Accountant Officer of the SP office for surety. Siju pointed out that he had not applied for such a salary certificate. The cooperative society had sanctioned the loan on the basis of the salary certificate.

Siju learned about the incident only when he received a notice stating that the amount would be levied from the guarantors as Ajeesh failed to repay the loan. Following this, he lodged a complaint against Ajeesh. Ajeesh was suspended after the investigation completed the preliminary investigation on the complaint.
