Tried to smuggle gold in capsule form; man arrested at Kochi airport 

KOCHI: Customs officials at the Nedumbassery airport arrested a Tirurangadi native who attempted to smuggle gold paste in capsules concealed inside his body. The arrested person has been identified as Saifuddin, who arrived from Malaysia. He had attempted to smuggle 8 sovereigns of gold by making it into a paste, filling it inside capsules and concealing the capsules inside his body.

Meanwhile, gold worth half a crore and foreign cigarettes worth more than two lakh were seized at Thiruvananthapuram airport the other day. Air Customs Intelligence and DRI seized the gold from an Indigo flight from Sharjah.
