MUMBAI: The opposition INDIA bloc's massive rally at Mumbai's Shivaji Park yesterday to mark the conclusion of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra turned into a show of strength. The mega rally was also an election campaign meeting of the front after the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday.
The yatra started from Manipur on January 14 and reached Mumbai after covering 6700 kilometers in 64 days. The yatra ended on Saturday. Yesterday morning, Rahul's Nyay Sankalp Padyatra was held ahead of the rally at Shivaji Park. The padayatra started from Mani Bhavan, where Mahatma Gandhi lived in Mumbai, to August Kranti Maidan, where Mahatma Gandhi called for the Quit India Movement on August 8, 1942. On December 28, 1885, Rahul Gandhi also reached Tejpal Hall, where the Indian National Congress was born. A Nyaya Sankalp Sabha was held there. Priyanka Gandhi, Gandhiji's grandson Tushar Gandhi, film actress Swara Bhaskar and many leaders were present.
Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP Leader Sharad Pawar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin (Tamil Nadu), Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, Shiv Sena Leader Uddhav Thackeray, Bihar Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav, National Conference's Farooq Abdullah, former Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, Dipankar Bhattacharya (CPI ML General Secretary) and others were present.
