NEW DELHI: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday announced that India's first bullet train will be launched in 2026. The minister made the announcement at the Bharat Summit 2024 held in New Delhi.
"India's first bullet train will be ready in 2026. Indian Railways is making elaborate plans for the bullet train. It requires hard work and open communication at all levels," the minister said.
"In other countries, automatic train protection (ATP) was introduced way back in the 1980s. Those who ruled India at that time did not implement any of that in the country. In 2016, the Narendra Modi government introduced automatic train protection for the first time in the country. In the last ten years, the government has laid the foundation for a developed India," he said.
