'Planned to do a film with Dileep and Manju, this is what Dileep told me when I contacted him'; Kamal shares his experience

Actor Dileep entered films as the assistant director of director Kamal. Malayalis very well know about the personal bond between Kamal and Dileep. In a recent interview given to Kaumudy Movies, Kamal revealed his experiences of shooting the film 'Ee Puzhayum Kadannu' with Dileep and Manju Warrier in the lead.

Kamal said that he had several interesting experiences while shooting 'Ee Puzhayum Kadannu'.

"Ee Puzhayum Kadannu was a film that did well at the box office. It was another big hit of Dileep and Manju Warrier after 'Sallapam'. The film was also the reason for their life together. It is a very special film for all of us. It was made on a very low budget," Kamal said.

Kamal also said that the film was initially planned with Sreenivasan as the lead.

"After the release of 'Sallapam', I called writer Shathrugnan to discuss a new film. We started working on a different story. However, the story did not go forward. I was not feeling satisfied. As I wanted to do a film that would attract people immediately, I asked Shathrugnan to think about a story with Dileep and Manju in the lead. During that time, a friend of mine had told me a story with Sreenivasan in the lead. But it didn't work for me then. It was about a man's hardships in helping three girls get married. Later, we brought that story under a different background and developed a new story. Thus, the story of 'Ee Puzhayum Kadannu' formed in my mind within a week," he said.

"I then called both Dileep and Manju. When I told Dileep about the project, he said that he would be ready for the shoot soon after completing his ongoing film. Thus, we began shooting the film a month after I spoke to Dileep. The shooting kicked off very quickly. Manju was shooting for the film 'Thoovalkottaram' when I called her. She agreed to do the film immediately after hearing the story through the phone," he added.
