THRISSUR: The LDF lodged a complaint against BJP national vice president AP Abdullakutty with the Election Commission for allegedly seeking votes in the name of religious belief. In its complaint, the LDF alleged that Abdullakutty sought votes for Suresh Gopi in Thrissur in the name of Lord Shri Rama.

Speaking at a public conference held at Puthukulam Maidan in Irinjalakuda on March 30, Abdullakutty said, "Vote for Suresh Gopi by praying Lord Shri Rama in mind." LDF Thrissur Parliamentary Constituency Central Election Committee General Secretary KP Rajendran pointed out in his complaint that this was a crime punishable under the Indian Penal Code. Suresh Gopi had also participated in the public conference. The LDF demanded that a detailed investigation be conducted and legal action be taken against Suresh Gopi and Abdullakutty.
