Man stabbed to death in drunken brawl in Idukki

PEERMADE: A man was stabbed to death following a drunken brawl at Mlamala's Pallikkada. The deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar (25), son of Pandyan, a resident of Thengakkal Second Division. Vandiperiyar police arrested Subeesh (19), a native of Pallikkada, in connection with the incident.

The incident took place on Friday at 12.30 pm. There was a festival at the nearby church. Subeesh, who runs a Light and Sounds shop, was given the light decoration work. It was during this work that he had a drunken argument with Ashok Kumar. The police said that Ashok Kumar was stabbed in the chest with a small knife in front of Subeesh's shop. Ashok Kumar, who was seriously injured, was taken to Peermade Hospital but died on the way. After the inquest, the body was taken to Idukki Medical College for post-mortem. His funeral will be held later. Devi is the wife of Ashok Kumar. Aadhav, who is six months old, is their only son. Police are continuing to investigate whether more people are involved in the incident.

Conflict in the area, many injured

After the murder, many people, including women, were injured after a conflict erupted in the area. Stones were pelted at the accused's house.

A percussionist was stabbed to death during a verbal dispute during the Vandiperiyar Shastha temple festival on the day of Shivaratri.
