'Questioned the rogue behaviour, director Ranjith got involved'; Tini Tom on his spat with Prithviraj in 'Indian Rupee' set

Actor Tini Tom’s film career spans almost two decades but his most notable role came back in 2011 with the movie ‘Indian Rupee’, which was directed by Ranjith. And now, the actor has revealed some anecdotes from the movie through the Kaumudy channel.

Tini Tom:

The scene had me buying a fish and visiting Raju’s house. This scene made me realize the sharp and scrupulous producer in Prithviraj. The scene was placed for shooting during the evening. The fish should be bought from the sub-jail premises.

The scene also had Raju joining me while purchasing fish, then together heading to his house. However, this scene was ruined by rainfall. This happened for three days exactly and we had no option but to purchase new fish every day. The fish purchased was Rs 4000. So every day, a new fish was purchased and it seemed silly to splash Rs 4000 daily for nothing. I shared the concern with Raju, who was also the producer of the movie.

Raju after hearing me replied nonchalantly “ Mr Tiny Tom, what do you think you are eating every noon from set?”

Later I got to know that the fish bought was not wasted but was given to the pantry for preparing some sumptuous dishes. Prithviraj who had amazed me as an actor, then revealed his side of assiduousness as a producer, which was till then unknown to me.

Later one day Shaji Nadesan and Prithviraj, who together produced the movie took me to an isolated place and said that I wouldn’t be paid for the movie.

“We have given you a great breakthrough in this movie, so it is you who have to pay us” Hearing this response shocked me and I went straight to director Ranjith. It was he who then revealed that it was a joke played on me.

Prithviraj production works adeptly and always pays well without delay.
