THRISSUR: Suresh Gopi has stepped in on behalf of Abdul Rahim, a native of Kozhikode Farooq, who has been sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia. The execution is scheduled for the 16th of this month. Suresh Gopi is taking various measures, including seeking details related to the case and intervening to extend the judgment.

He mentioned that ministerial intervention is not feasible due to the caretaker cabinet, so efforts are focused on diplomatic channels. He reportedly reached out to the Saudi and Omani ambassadors regarding the matter and has also communicated with Abdul Rahim's family. Suresh Gopi stated that he would provide further details this afternoon.

Meanwhile, businessman and social activist Bobby Chemmanur pledged to collect Rs 34 crores for Abdul Rahim's release. Chemmanur plans to pressure Union Minister V Muraleedharan to extend the verdict for at least three months and is pursuing diplomatic solutions. The Prime Minister has also been approached for assistance.

The Boche Fans Trust contributed Rs 1.5 crores towards the cause. Bobby Chemmanur's fundraising campaign, named 'Yachana Yathra,' commenced today in Thiruvananthapuram, aiming to collect donations through QR codes distributed on social media and vehicles across various public locations from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram. Boche assured that the collected amount would be directly transferred to the trust account.
