KOCHI: Police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of goonda leader Thiruthuseri Vinu Vikraman. According to the police, a feud between two goonda gangs led to the murder. The arrested persons are Nidhin and Deepak. Both of them are members of a goonda gang, the police said.
The murder took place at around 2 am this morning in Chengamanadu in Kochi. Vinu was drinking liquor at a bar on Tuesday night when he was picked up by the assailants in an autorickshaw and hacked him. They then dumped his body on the roadside. There were several injuries on the body.
The police said that the cause of death was a deep wound on the head. The man, who took Vinu from the bar in an auto, was earlier taken into custody and interrogated by the police.
Vinu was an accused in several criminal cases. He is the first accused in the case of hacking to death Binoy alias Gillappi, a goon, at Athani in 2019. After getting released on bail, he used to collect money by threatening employees in bars and quarries. He and his gang were also involved in drug dealing.
