Rope tied for PM's security tangles around neck, youth meets tragic end in Kochi

KOCHI: Youth died in Kochi after a rope tied on the road for the safety of Prime Minister Narendra Modi got tangled around his neck. Manoj Unni, a resident of Vaduthala died. The accident happened at 10 p.m.

Manoj suffered a fatal injury when the rope, which had been tied across the road from SA Road to MG Road in anticipation of the Prime Minister's arrival, tangled around his neck. Despite being rushed to the hospital after hitting his head on the road, he could not be saved.

Authorities report that the tragic accident occurred as Manoj failed to stop despite police officers signalling for him to do so. Prime Minister Modi had arrived in Kochi as part of his election campaign, reaching the city at 10 p.m. on Saturday. Today, he is scheduled to participate in campaign events in the Attingal and Alathur constituencies.

Due to the Prime Minister's visit, traffic controls will be in place in Ernakulam city today and tomorrow. After campaigning in the Alathur constituency this morning, Modi will attend a program at Kattakkada in the Attingal constituency.
