THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The price of gold in the state has surged today, experiencing an increase of 440 rupees. As of today, the price of one pavan of gold stands at Rs 53,640. This increase reflects a rise in the price of one gram of gold to Rs 6,983. Comparatively, the previous day's price for one pavan gold was Rs 53,200. The beginning of this month saw the price of one pavan of gold crossing the half-a-lakh mark. On April 2, gold experienced a relatively low price, with one pavan gold priced at Rs 50,680 at that time. However, there hasn't been a significant change in silver prices.

Central banks, amidst the prevailing uncertainty in the financial sector, are notably increasing their gold reserves. Various central banks in Asia, including India and China, have intensified their purchases of gold. China's gold reserves surged to 7.27 crore troy ounces in March.
