Yellow alert issued in two districts today and tomorrow, fishing banned

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded yellow alert in Kannur and Kasargod today and tomorrow following the heavy rains that lash the state. A chance of isolated heavy rain has been predicted in these places. Heavy rains mean 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in 24 hours.

Meantime, the weather department has warned people not to go fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts. Strong winds with gusts of 35 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts up to 55 kmph are likely along Kerala - Lakshadweep coasts today. From today till July 25, there is a possibility of strong winds and bad weather along the coast of Karnataka with a speed of 35 to 45 km per hour and at some occasions up to 55 km per hour.

21.07.2024: Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely over the northern Andhra Pradesh coast and the central western Bay of Bengal and adjacent to it Central East Bay of Bengal, Northwest Bay of Bengal, Southwest Bay of Bengal and Central East Arabian Sea adjacent to the Karnataka coast.

Strong to 35 to 45 kmph and occasional up to 55 kmph over South Bay of Bengal, Central East Bay of Bengal, North Bay of Bengal, Kerala - Lakshadweep coasts, adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea, Gulf of Mannar adjoining South Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari region Wind and inclement weather are possible.

From 21.07.2024 to 25.07.2024: Strong wind speed of 45 to 55 kmph and occasional up to 65 kmph is likely over Southwest Arabian Sea, adjoining Central Arabian Sea and Southeast Arabian Sea.

22.07.2024: 35 to 45 kmph and occasional up to 55 kmph over South Bay of Bengal, Central East Bay of Bengal, North Bay of Bengal, Central East Arabian Sea adjacent to Karnataka, Gulf of Mannar, South Tamil Nadu and Kanyakumari region. Strong winds and bad weather are possible at speed.

From 23.07.2024 to 25.07.2024: North Andhra Pradesh coast, central Bay of Bengal adjoining North West Bay of Bengal with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph and at some occasions up to 65 kmph and severe weather conditions are likely.

Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely over South Bay of Bengal, Central East Arabian Sea adjoining Karnataka, Gulf of Mannar, adjoining South Tamil Nadu and Kanyakumari region with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph at occasional 55 kmph.
