ballot-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul directed that necessary arrangements should be made for flawless conduct of postal ballot voting for senior citizens and differently-abled persons. He was speaking at a meeting held at Puthiyatheru in Kannur to review the election preparations in Kannur, Kasaragod, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.

Necessary arrangements should be made for this so that there is no complaint. All eligible voters who have applied for postal ballot should be updated. The team should inform them in advance of the time they will reach home to vote. The figures for postal ballot voting should also be ensured to be accurate. Necessary facilities should be provided at the polling booth for the voters who come to vote and this matter should be brought to the maximum number of people. The polling day is expected to be extremely hot, so all booths should be equipped with sun-shaded queuing facilities. Adequate drinking water, chairs to sit etc. should also be ensured. Special facilities should be provided for senior citizens in the booth. He also directed the AEROs and EROs to ensure that the ramps at the polling booths are functional.

A system is being prepared to provide vehicles, volunteers and wheelchairs to differently-abled persons who make requests through the Saksham mobile app. Care should be taken to execute this without complaints. Adequate publicity should also be given to let the public know about the availability of this facility. Applications coming through the Saksham mobile app should be monitored by a special team and necessary action should be taken. Election activities are progressing well. All necessary measures are being commissioned to ensure peaceful and flawless polling. All should work together to complete the election process without complaints, the Chief Electoral Officer directed.
