PALAKKAD: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was of the stand that Kerala should never do well. The Chief Minister was inaugurating the election public meeting of Left candidate A. Vijayaraghavan at Palakkad Kotta Maithanam.

Speaking at the event, Pinarayi said that Narendra Modi was deliberately trying to destroy the credibility of the cooperative sector of the state.

"The Prime Minister, who visits Kerala frequently, is making a conscious effort to undermine the credibility of Kerala's cooperative sector, which is a model for the entire country. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has not been able to find anything beyond the steps taken by the state government in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank irregularities. No one can destroy the credibility of the cooperative sector in Kerala," Pinarayi Vijayan said.

"Prime Minister Modi has been showering promises while visiting Kerala. One should ask him how many promises did he fulfil in the last 10 years. The government ruling the Centre has completely neglected the farmers. It is taking the stand of turning its back on the problems of the people of Palakkad. Denying AIIMS, the stand of not sanctioning a coach factory, the sale of shares in BEML and not allowing the state government to take over instrumentation are examples of this. Our people's representatives should be the ones who say that Palakkad needs a coach factory. Only LDF protested against the privatisation of BEML," the CM said.

"Modi is alleging that the Left is criticising Rahul Gandhi in Kerala. How can we not criticise Rahul and the Congress? Did anyone see any Congress leader taking part in the farmers' protest in Delhi? Where were the Congress MPs when democracy, secularism and federalism were questioned several times in the country? They were taking part in the tea party hosted by the President. In the meantime, the Left Front was on the streets fighting for the farmers. The people have not forgotten this. What was the approach of 18 UDF MPs on the discrimination shown by the Centre towards Kerala? All this should be looked at while electing the people's representatives," Pinarayi added.

The Chief Minister also released the election songs prepared under the leadership of the CPM State Committee. Minister MB Rajesh, Central Committee Member AK Balan, state committee member NN Krishnadas, Naushad and KR Gopinath were present.
