THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four people were stabbed after a dispute broke broke out during a birthday party held in the capital city. The condition of two among them is serious. The incident happened last night at a restaurant in Kazhakoottam. The Kazhakoottam police have taken Shamim (34) of Puthucurichy Kadinamkulam Manakkat, Jino (36) of Chembulipadu in Puthucurichy and Anas (22) of Karimbuvila House in Kallambalam, into custody.
Shalu and Suraj were seriously injured. Shalu was stabbed in his lung and Suraj in the liver. Both underwent an emergency surgery. Hospital sources said that they are out of danger.
Police said the reason behind the attack is not clear. The preliminary conclusion is that a dispute in a drunken condition is likely to be behind the attack. However, a clarity would be obtained only after further investigation. There is also a move to interrogate further those in custody.
Violent attacks are frequently witnessed in Kazhakoottam. However, as the police stepped up, their annoyance had lessened. It is alleged that the sale of drugs is widespread in the area. The main customers of the gangs are the employees of various companies in Technopark. Police said girls are among them. Earlier, some drug dealers were arrested. However, the locals said they are just sellers and that there are many behind it.
