NDA candidate Krishnakumar's eye injury; BJP worker arrested

KOLLAM: The police on Monday arrested a BJP worker in the incident in which actor G Krishnakumar, the NDA candidate in Kollam, sustained an injury in the eye. The arrested person is Mulavana native Sanal, the general secretary of the BJP Kundara panchayat committee. He was later released on bail.

The incident took place when Krishnakumar was in Mulavana as part of his election campaign. The accused told the police that the key in his hand accidentally hit Krishnakumar's eye when he came to receive Krishnakumar at Chandamukku in Mulavana. Earlier, Krishnakumar had alleged in his complaint that he suspected that he was attacked by a CPM worker with a strong weapon for criticising the CPM leaders in the incident in which the Thrissur Pooram was ruined by the police.

The Kundara police registered the case stating that the accused used a weapon to attack Krishnakumar. Subsequently, the accused was identified during the investigation conducted by the police and the secret investigation department. Krishnakumar sustained an injury in his left eye.
