Actor Vishal rode a bicycle to cast his vote in the Lok Sabha elections held in Tamil Nadu which sparked a major debate. The video of the same was widely circulated on social media. This drew comparisons with actor Vijay riding a bicycle to cast his vote in the 2021 Assembly elections. Supposedly, the actor did this as a protest against the rising fuel price.
Reacting to Vishal's act, many said he did this in imitation of Vijay. Putting an end to the speculations, Vishal himself has revealed the reason behind his cycle ride. He said that he did not imitate Vijay and used his cycle as he did not have another vehicle.
"I like Vijay a lot. But I didn't vote on a bicycle because he did, because I don't have another vehicle. I have one for my parents, and I've sold all the other vehicles I had. And if I drive a new car with the state of the roads here now, I'll have to change suspensions three times a year. A sum will have to be spent, which I don't have. So now I am using it only on cycle. Even when I moved from Karaikudi to Trichy recently, after sending the household goods in a cart, I cycled 83 km listening to songs. Sometimes even for shooting, I go by bicycle," Vishal said in a promotional event for his upcoming movie.
