During lockdown times in 2021, the crew of ‘Aadujeevitham’ were trapped in the labyrinthine deserts of Jordan. The country out of nowhere implemented a strict lockdown to curb the disease from spreading, but it gave doomsday for the crew including actor Prithviraj. Unknowing about what was transpiring in the world, the crew members had to spend 50 long days in the Wadi Rum deserts in southern Jordan.

In an interview with Kaumudy Movies, actress and Prithviraj’s mother Mallika Sukumaran recollected the gruelling memories of those days.

Mallika Sukumaran:

I knew the location Raju was in. Those days, the death counts were increasing every day and this gave me great reasons to worry. But to alleviate such tensions, I would forcefully make my mind believe that no such pandemic would enter into the desert region. However, things were far from normal because all my attempts to reach Prithivaj through phone failed.

Once I connected with director Blessy and he comforted me saying that nothing was serious and they were all safe.

Later news came about the crew members getting trapped in the desert and their flight getting cancelled. I saw many comments from netizens asking me to contact Suresh Gopi for solutions. These people are unaware of the reality so they comment on anything at a whim. Suresh Gopi called me, Mohanlal called me and many others called me to enquire about the news.

But I will tell you the truth now. I took the phone that day and called the honourable Union Minister of State V Muraleedharan. I told him about Suresh Gopi’s phone call and the shooting scare that involved my son. Muraleedharan gave me confidence like no other leader. He asked me to wait for just two days. He assured that a flight would reach Jordan and the crew would be brought back to safety. Just two days later, Prithviraj and the crew returned to India, safely.
