‘Bail should be granted to continue studies’; Court rejects plea of Anupama, accused in six-year-old girl’s abduction case

KOLLAM: The Kollam Additional Sessions Court rejected the bail plea of Anupama, the third accused in the child abduction case in Oyoor. Anupama's petition sought bail to continue her studies. However, the prosecution opposed granting bail to Anupama. The prosecution argued that if bail is granted, there is a possibility to influence and threaten the witnesses. The court accepted this and rejected her bail plea.

Anupama is the daughter of K R Padmakumar (51), the first accused in the case and his wife Anitha Kumari (39), the second accused. The first two accused have not submitted their bail pleas so far. They kidnapped a six-year-old girl in a car in last November. They later abandoned the child on the grounds of the Kollam Ashram the next day and they were nabbed on December 1. The district rural crime branch team conducted further investigation into the case registered by the Pooyapally police and submitted the charge sheet on February 8.

Anupama was a dancer and social media star. She was active on Facebook and YouTube. She had five lakh subscribers on YouTube alone when she was arrested. Her Facebook ID and YouTube channel was in the name of Anupama Padman. She had so far uploaded 381 videos on YouTube. Her presentation was in English. She had mostly done videos on American celebrity Kim Kardashian.

Most of the videos posted by her had gone viral. There are even videos that have received more than ten million views. Anupama also had a passion for fashion designing. She has 14,000 followers on Instagram. It is clear from the videos that she is also an animal lover.
