Man sentenced to three life terms for abusing his daughter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A court sentenced a 40-year-old man to three life terms and a fine of Rs 90,000 for abusing his six-year-old daughter. He will be have to serve the sentence for one more year if the fine isn't paid. Apart from this, the court also sentenced the accused to an additional 21 years of imprisonment in various sections. Special POCSO Court Judge R Rekha pronounced the sentence.

The child was sexually abused on July 2023. The child's mother is abroad and was staying with her mother's parents. The abuse happened when she came to live with his father.

The statement given by the child's 15-year-old sister to the police that her father would behave badly if he was drunk became crucial in the case. Special Public Prosecutor RS Vijay Mohan and RY Akhilesh appeared for the prosecution.
