KANNUR: Five services of Air India Express from Kannur have been cancelled. Flights to Sharjah, Dammam, Dubai, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi have been cancelled. Apart from this, two flight services at Nedumbassery have also been suspended.
Meanwhile, an Abu Dhabi-bound flight had left Thiruvananthapuram at 1.10 am today. Services from Karipur airport have also resumed. Flights to Dammam and Muscat also took off.
Reports are claiming that the Kannur airport suffered a loss of five crores due to the strike called by the Air India Express cabin crew. The journey of more than four thousand people was cancelled from here alone. Officials are saying that although the strike is over, it will take at least three days for the services to return to normal.
The Air India Express cabin crew strike was called off yesterday. The decision was taken in a discussion held by the employees' association and representatives of Air India in the presence of the Chief Labor Commissioner (Central) in Delhi. Air India management has agreed to look into the demands of the employees. It was expected that the services would be back to normal by today.
Air India Express had earlier sacked 30 employees for causing inconvenience to passengers, an embarrassment to the company and huge financial loss due to the cancellation of flights. This too has been cancelled.
