Cop attacked, head smashed with iron rod during Kazhakoottam temple festival

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A police officer suffered injuries after being brutally attacked during a temple festival in Kazhakoottam on Sunday. Kollam Chithara native Riyas, a police official from the AR camp, suffered head injuries after being attacked with an iron rod. The melee happened during the final day of the festival in Kazhakoottam Mahadeva temple.

The police were trying to disperse the crowd during the late night hour when the fight broke out. Six people were detained in the incident.

Meanwhile, a bomb exploded on the roadside at Chakkarakkal in Kannur Monday morning at around 4 am. Two ice cream bombs exploded. The blast happened when the police were patrolling.

There was political tension in the area the other day. The problems were related to the tying of festoons. The police patrolling was intensified following this. In the meanwhile, the bomb exploded. The police have started an investigation into the incident.
