CPM sectarianism leads to removal of Ramankary Panchayat President and Vice President

ALAPPUZHA: R. Rajendra Kumar, President of the CPM and Vice President Kunjumol Sivadas were expelled from the Ramankari Gram Panchayat after four CPM members supported the UDF's no-confidence motion. CPM lost its 27-year continuous rule due to sectarianism. Rajendra Kumar also resigned from the panchayat membership. CPM members were not given a whip to vote against the no-confidence motion.

LDF has 9 members (all CPM) and the UDF has 4 members. The no-confidence motion, moved by Congress member R. Rajumon, was supported by UDF members Denny Xavier, Solly Antony and Sheena Rejapan, as well as CPM members KP Ajayagosh, Surya Jijimon and Bins Joseph. Molji Rajesh of the CPM also voted in favor. The no-confidence motion was brought against the non-construction of the shopping complex. CPM members Vice President Kunjumol Sivadas, Sajeev Uthumthara, Roshna and Ramyaharidas did not participate in the no-confidence motion against the Vice President held in the afternoon. With this, the resolution was passed.

Sectarianism intensified in Kuttanad with the CPM district conference. Last August, around 300 people including two area committee members, 19 local committee members, DYFI leaders and local leaders joined CPI. The CPM district leadership tried to persuade them, but to no avail.

R. Rajendra Kumar said that the deal between the CPM and the Congress in the Mavelikara Lok Sabha constituency would be announced on June 4. He said that either Kodikunnil Suresh or they would reveal it. He would work with the CPI and no longer wanted to compete, Rajendra Kumar said.
